What font does Steam use?

Valve’s store is one of the densest pages on the web: hundreds of game titles, prices and tags at 11 to 16px. Motiva Sans does all of that work alone.

Short answer: The Steam store uses Motiva Sans, a commercial sans serif from TipoType, for every piece of text, in five weights from Light to Bold.

The main font stack in the CSS:

font-family: "Motiva Sans", sans-serif;
  • The store has no h1 or h2 at all. Game titles and section labels are styled divs, which is why the role table above is short.
  • Text runs from 11px to 16px. The most common size is 14px, and featured titles are 14.4px, which is 0.9 of 16px.
  • All five weights from Light to Bold are in use on one page.

How we checked

We opened store.steampowered.com in Chrome on November 5, 2026 and read the computed styles of its visible text: the declared font stack, the font actually rendered, and how much of the page’s text each family sets. That is the same data the Font Inspector extension shows under Fonts on this page. We re-check these pages periodically, and the date above shows the last inspection.
